Brenig Construction are pleased to announce the completion of the Burbo Bank onshore substation project on behalf of Dong Energy and Balfour Beatty. The project has been a huge success for Brenig, having completed the works on programme and within budget.
The project team have been recognised nationally for the standard of safety on the scheme, winning various awards.
Brenig Construction’s scope on the 18 month project included reduced level excavation, reinforced concrete works, onsite and offsite infrastructure works and various finishing works around the site.
Director Mark Parry said- “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with DONG Energy and Balfour Beatty on the Burbo Bank project, I remember the day we were awarded this contract back in January 2015 and the excitement of the team having secured such a significant works package on a £1 billion civil engineering project. It really was a significant milestone in the history of the company. Now having completed the works, we can look back with pride at a job well done on an extremely challenging and complex project.”
Expected to be commissioned in 2017, the 258 megawatt wind farm and substation will be able to supply the electricity needs of around 180,000 UK homes.
